Dr. Jorge Mataix-Solera is a professor and researcher at the Universidad Miguel Hernández, internationally recognised for his work on soil science, post-fire soil recovery, and geosciences. Beyond his research, he is also an accomplished photographer — using imagery as a teaching and communication tool within the geosciences.
The challenge was building a site that could serve multiple audiences simultaneously: academic peers looking for publications and research projects, students seeking teaching resources, and a broader audience interested in his photography. The site needed to feel as visually compelling as the images it showcased, while remaining functional and easy to navigate.

A full-screen, image-led WordPress site that puts photography front and centre while organising a complex body of academic work into clear, accessible sections: Teaching, Research Projects, Publications, Links, Urban Water Systems, Photography, and Contact. The hero uses full-bleed landscape photography with minimal typography — letting the imagery speak. The site bridges two worlds: rigorous academic content and the visual storytelling of a field scientist who photographs the landscapes he studies.
