The XXXIV Reunión Nacional de Suelos (RENS 2026) is Spain’s premier national congress for soil science, organised by the Universidad Miguel Hernández and GETECMA in Alcoi. The event brings together researchers, academics and professionals from across the country for several days of presentations, field trips and scientific exchange.
The challenge was creating a site that could handle the full complexity of an academic congress — programme, speaker information, abstract submission, registration, sponsors, and practical information — while reflecting the natural, earthy identity of the event and remaining easy to update as the congress date approached.
A full WordPress build designed around the specific needs of an academic congress. The site includes a live countdown to the event, full programme section, author information, documentation downloads, and a sponsors carousel. The visual identity draws on the earthy tones of the soil science discipline — warm browns, sandy textures — giving the site a distinctive look that stands apart from typical academic event websites. The CMS allows the organising committee to update all content independently throughout the lead-up to the event.
